Here We Are at New Years Again

Isn't it amazing how time flies, or it seems to anyway. It was only a couple of months ago that we had New Years, wasn't it. My friend, Mark, used to start saying, "It's almost Christmas" around the first of March each year, and he was right.

The years are just flying by. It certainly seems that way to be not in my 7th decade. What are we accomplishing with the life that God provided us? I don't know about you, but I don't feel like I'm doing enough; especially compared to what He has done for me.

I feel embarrassed sometimes, knowing I could have done so much more; more important things, things for Him and family and less for me. But with some prayer He comforts me that I am on track since He is ultimately in control of my life as I gave it to Him a long time ago. I was 13 years old and at a revival at a small Baptist church in Omaha, Ne.

How are you doing in these matters? Are you even thinking about the important issues of life, or are you just plowing through life as fast as you can? If you know what is showing on all of the channels at 8:00 pm, then you have your focus on the wrong things.

You can make a new decision anytime to be successful in life. And that starts with the realization that God does exist and that we are all accountable to Him for what we do with this life He provided for us. You are not really god. Although we want to be to be god, or at least I want to be most of the time. Really, Jesus is Lord and He is the only One you should trust with your eternity.

I heard the question about the desire to be a millionaire. Do you really want to be a millionaire, really? What if you could have all the money, buy the cars, buy the big house, etc., but you had to return it in one day? You were a millionaire for only one day. Then the car goes back, the house goes back, everything returns as it was before. How would you feel about being a millionaire?

We do the same thing when we focus on this short life and not on the eternal life that is after this one.

After that, pray for His guidance and let Him lead you into the worlds unknown. I am sure He has marvelous things in mind for you. He has lead me to start a new business with my friend Mike, and it is progressing quite well. We should be in full swing this year. My wife will like it when I am getting a paycheck again.:)

Well, that's my thoughts for the new year; it all comes down to trusting God who loves you more than you can imagine. The Cross is the proof of that.
